FAQ
How many power-unit elements can a driver use in 2026?
Under B8.2.2 plus B8.2.3 (one extra of each element in 2026), the limits per driver are ICE, Turbocharger, and Exhaust at 4 each; MGU-K, Energy Store, and Control Electronics at 3 each; and PU Ancillary at 6 per ancillary type (not 6 total across all ancillaries). MGU-H is not used in 2026.
What happens when a driver goes over the limit?
B8.2.8 penalties are cumulative: 10 grid places the first time an additional element of each type is used, then 5 places each subsequent time, applied at the race weekend where it is first used. If more than one of the same element is fitted in a weekend, only the last one fitted may be used later without a further penalty.

When does an element count as used?
An element counts as used once the car's transponder shows it has left the pit lane. Minor parts approved in the homologation dossier can be changed without penalty (B8.2.11).
